ILC2008/ LCWS2008: Bulletin

The 2008 LCWS and ILC conference is starting next Sunday, November 16 and we would like to provide some general information about the meeting.

Conference Venue
The conference will take place in two nearby locations at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) campus: the UIC's new conference facility Forum and the Student Center East (SCE) Tower. For more information see the campus map:

There will be an early registration on Saturday, November 15 in the atrium of the UIC Forum from 17:00 to 20:00. Registration will begin at 07:30 on Sunday, November 16 at the UIC Forum. The registration desk is also your main point where you can get help at any time.

Registration Fees and Deadlines
Registration for the conference is now entering its final stages. The registration fee is now $475. The companion charge for the banquet is $70. All registration fees must be paid in USD. Please note that the first day of the conference is a Sunday and US banks are not open on this day. Please plan accordingly.
Please register by Sunday, November 9, 2008. Registrations received after this date may not be fully processed by the start of the conference and your conference materials, including ID, may not be available for you at the first session.

Hotels in the surroundings of UIC are filling up rather fast. You should act quickly, as many hotels which offer special rates to LCWS participants will do so only for a little while longer. More information can be found at:

There will be internet access in the UIC Forum and the SCE tower. You will receive information on how to connect to the wireless network, along with your user name and password, in your registration packet. In addition a limited number of PCs with internet connections will be provided in both the Forum and SCE.

Format of Presentations
Talks must be uploaded (in pdf format) on the conference indico agenda server at least 24 hrs before the session. For more information about the agenda server speakers should contact their session chairpersons. Conference rooms will be equipped with a Windows XP PC and talks must be compatible with Adobe Acrobat 8 or Microsoft Office 2003.

The weather in Chicago in early November is cold. Average maximum temperature is around 49oF (10oC) and average minimum temperature around 35oF (2oC). Weather in Chicago is pretty unpredictable — so be prepared.
