Search is not yet implemented; will CDS Agenda style search will be implemented in next release? Can we specify a format for search results different from that which is currently used in CDS Agenda?
A search engine based on the CDSware technology will very soon be implemented on the CERN server. It indexes both metadata and fulltexts, allows searching on different fields, boolean combinations of search queries, different sorting methods and a customizable format for the search results. A similar one can be added to the ILC server.
How do I submit a talk to a meeting?
After you log in you will (should) see three red icons to the left of the 2 talks that have been entered for you. The 3rd one will display “submit material” when you hover your mouse cursor over it. Clicking on it will open a screen called “Contribution View” “Submitting Materials for Contribution”. Select “Material Type” as slides (usually) from the drop down list and then click the browse button to enter the file name you want to upload into the “File to Submit” box. You may add an abstract in the text box if you wish.
Is or will there be a system for meeting notification built in?
Such a feature already exists and allows the manager of a specific event to setup automatic reminders to the participants.
Can system be made to recognize all institutional user names and passwords, or only CERN Nice compliant user/pw combinations?
Authentication in Indico is based on a system of plug-ins. By default the login is local to Indico (which means all the user data and credentials are kept in the Indico database). In addition to this it is possible to add other login types (for eg. at CERN we added a NICE plugin). It should be possible with some help from the local administrators to add plugins for authenticating in other institutions as well.
Is there a way of providing key words to cross link items in different branches of the tree? Perhaps text search handles this? Formalizing the way keywords are added and what there values are would be useful. What would be useful is a “user constructed” calendar composed of meetings attached to any arbitrary nodes of the tree.
Nothing was foreseen to add descriptive keywords to meetings.
But a “user constructed” calendar is indeed possible. See for eg. this link
Can one hang BOTH meetings AND other (more specific) categories from any given node in the tree? I don’t think so.
Explain if and how categories of the tree, once defined, and with meetings embedded, can be moved or modified without breaking URLs that may have been previously defined and sent out to the larger internet.
Meetings and subcategories cannot coexist in a common category.
If you define a category with meetings inside and advertise its URL, this URL will not change if you move the category to a different father. The same is true if you advertise a URL to a meeting. Moving it to different categories won't change the URL.
The international nature of ILC is such that it would be nice to brand the agenda server in a “CERN-free” manner. Is a URL such as agenda.linearcollider.org possible?
There might be a possibility. An alias called “agenda” should be created in the linearcollider.org domain to point to the CERN ILC server (ilcagenda.cern.ch). But I'm not sure this will be transparent for users. I think it is worth trying this at least.
In searching for users from the admin page, is there a wildcard character which, for example, will show all users. Leaving all fields blank and searching yields no results.
Use a ”.” or ”@” in the email field.
Map URL on Meeting display defaults to CERN map. How to change this?
