After Vancouver: Valencia

Valencia's City of Art and Science.

A joint meeting of the "European Committee for Future Accelerators Study of Physics and Detectors for a Linear Collider"and of the Global Design Effort (GDE) will be held from 6 to 10 November 2006 in Valencia, Spain. "Valencia will be an important stepping stone on our way to costing the machine, and we expect great results from the five days in Spain," said Brian Foster, Regional Director for Europe.

After a very successful start in Vancouver, the members of the GDE will get their heads together again in Valencia to get even closer to putting a price tag on the machine. The Reference Design Report (RDR) will have evolved substantially by then, and the authors and contributors will convene, red pens in hand, to make it a round and complete document. The detector, physics and machine communities will present latest results at the annual ECFA meeting that takes place in parallel. The ILC's Steering Committee has a meeting on Saturday 11 November.

The event will take place at the Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia and the Fundacio Universitat Empresa (ADEIT). Deadline for registration is 6 October 2006. The organising committee strongly recommends the participants to register as early as possible since several events will take place at the same time and hotel reservations in the town could be difficult.

More information is already available on the meeting web site.
